CUBBIES PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Cubbies is a SIX-week program offered during the Fall and Spring recreational season.  Cubbies takes place on SATURDAYS: at the same time and place each week.  There are no practices during the week.
TEAMS:  Each team will have a minimum of 7 players and a maximum of 9 players. Kids are generally placed on teams by their neighborhood school location, as listed on their registration form.  Special requests will be considered.  Each team will have a volunteer parent coach, who will lead the activities and facilitate the games.  Staff coaches will provide a FUN and basic coaching packet to the coach and will be on-site for support and assistance.  There are no co-ed teams.
COST: $65 PER season.  You must register for the Fall and Spring season separately.

PROGRAM FORMAT:
First 2 weeks:  “Practice Phase”. Kids will be introduced to cooperative play and being part of a team while learning basic soccer fundamentals through soccer specific activities.  We use positive reinforcement to reward effort and participation.
Last 4 weeks:  “Game Phase”.  Here we go! Each team will be assigned to play another Cubbies team (schedule provided).  Games are played in a 4 vs 4 player format with a maximum of 4 kids from each team on the field at a time. Each half will be 10-12 minutes with a 5 minute break at the half. Cheer on ALL the kids as they take their newly learned skills into a LOW KEY but FUN game setting!

CUBBIE REQUIREMENTS
Each Cubbie will need to bring to every session:
 Size three soccer ball (will be used until age 8)
 Shinguards with socks pulled up over the top!  No shinguards= No play
 Water bottle
 Uniform: Real, reversible, red/white jersey MUST be purchased through Soccer Stop at University and County Line Rd. The jersey is offered alone or as part of a package.  Each child will also need black shorts and socks but these may be generic.  Cleats or tennis shoes permissible.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Nothing brings a bigger smile to a child’s face than to have their Mom or Dad share their soccer experience with them!  Each team will need a parent to volunteer to serve as a coach, asst coach and team parent.  The only experience needed is a love of children and a sense of humor!  Please indicate your interest in any of the roles on your registration form.  Please see the link for Frequently Asked Question Link for additional information regarding volunteer roles and Cubbie program content.

Last spring, a group of Real Colorado community members raised over $1,800 to start a Real Nica Soccer League. The first season’s league was comprised of 7 teams ( 6 boys and 1 girls team) who competed in a 10-week season, and a first-ever Real Nica Soccer Tournament . The children in this league have never had opportunity to play any form of organized soccer before! In addition to our community’s, Real Colorado and the University of Denver donated 6 complete sets of uniforms. Each athlete was outfitted with a kit, shin guards and cleats, and the first, second and third place teams all received trophies and individual medals. All of this would not be possible without the support given by members of the Real Colorado community
