COMPETITIVE PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Colorado has a proud history of youth soccer organizations throughout the state.  During the 1990’s, Lakewood based Colorado Rush was the dominant force in competitive soccer, amassing numerous local and national championships.  In 1997, no longer content to be the “bridesmaid” to Rush, Real Colorado restructured the internal organization of the club and developed a long term strategic plan that would establish Real as a serious contender on the competitive scene. In 1998, Real Colorado recruited heralded soccer icon Lorne Donaldson as the Director of Coaching, capturing the attention of the local and national soccer community.  Lorne’s credentials as a former National and Olympic Team player and professional coach instantly attracted a dynamic coaching staff with youth, collegiate and MLS experience that provide field, goal keeping and college placement expertise.  Our commitment to each player extends beyond the pitch as we empower them with life skills taught through dedication, perseverance, work ethic and the challenges of competition. In a short time, Real has begun a legacy of producing teams and players respected locally, nationally and internationally for their on-field and personal accomplishments.   The evidence is compelling as our teams have received unparalleled recognition and is now the only Colorado club to have been named as a Top 20 Club in the US for both boys and girls programs by Soccer America for 2007 and 2008.  In 2007, Real Colorado was one of 64 clubs invited by U.S. Soccer to participate in the US Developmental Academy during its inaugural season.  The Academy represents the greatest initiative for elite player development ever seen in the US and sponsored by the largest governing body for soccer in this country.  Soccer America states, “Real Colorado rocketed to the top of the Developmental Soccer Academy in its inaugural year with first and second place finishes.”  But the ride has just begun and we invite to explore our links and consider if the Real experience will take you on the journey of your dreams.
